Happy Birthday Donna!

Here's a little card I whipped up for my GF Donna this weekend as we celebrated her birthday today!!! I also used the Just Magnolia sketch for this week as I knew she would completely understand my need to double dip and kill two birds with one stone! LOL!!! :) Happy Birthday Donna - it was great hanging out with you and K today and this weekend!!! Whoooot!! :)
Also, I should mention that I saw these little flowers on my friend Tania's blog so thought I'd take a stab at them. I really like how they turned out. Easy peasy and oh so cute!! :) The image was colored with distress inks and I used the distress inks and a dabber on the flowers too! :) Thanks for stopping by - have a great week everyone! :)

In Deepest Sympathy

My girlfriend's father passed away this past week and the funeral is on Thursday. I usually buy sympathy cards and have actually never made one. However, I wanted to give her something to let her know I am thinking about her (I guess you could say - put more effort into just giving a plain sympathy card). I hope this is okay....like I say, I've never made one so I'm hoping this will convey the message that I am so sorry for her loss! :(

Cherish Friends

Two posts in one day!! Whew!! I love Sundays!! :) So here is my take on this week's Drunken Stampers challenge - the dreaded RIBBON PULL!!! Well, I knew I couldn't trust myself not to cheat on this one, so I called Brayden and asked him to go and pull a ribbon out of this BIG bag I have just waiting to be wound and put away (I figure a good tv night project). Anyway - here's the ribbon he picked (not too bad although a little bright) and here's the card that I came up with for the challenge!!!

I colored this image with my Close To My Heart Inks. I figured if Timmies were dye based, why wouldn't these work!! They were a little more challenging than the distess inks - didn't blend as nicely - but they worked okay and at least I had a better color selection than what I currently have with my distress inks! :) I also should mention that I total cased this card from Carla over at the Little Stamp Shop Blog - I just thought her's was tooo cute. I've linked it for you so you can see her work of art!! :)

Anyway - thanks for stopping by....and if you can find the time - join us in the ribbon challenge at Drunken Stampers....the gals are a ton of fun and there's only a few of us so come and play! :)

Joy, Peace & Love.....

Too early for Christmas you say???? Not if you play with Sparkle!!! She has a challenge blog called Christmas Card Challenges where each week there is a challenge involving the making of a Christmas Card. This week's challenge was to make a Christmas related card that exemplifies why you love Christmas. Well, I guess one of my favorite parts (and there are a few) is giving gifts (and lets just face it - receiving them too)! That's why I chose ths cute little Tilda to showcase my love of the holiday! So why make Christmas cards now you ask??? Isn't it too early??? Nope - not if you're a crafter and LOVE giving away (or selling) your handmade creations!! Get started early this season and join us - that way you'll have way more time to enjoy the holidays with your family this year instead of that last minute madness that strikes us cardmakers when we realize we have two weeks until Christmas and we still have to make (AND MAIL) our cards!!! Yes, it happens every year to you too....doesn't it??!

This card was made with my aqua brush and Tim inks again. I used bundled sage, weathered wood, antique linen, tattered rose, firebrick red and vintage photo. Crazy how many shades you can get from just using a few colors! :) I am loving this new technique!!! Takes a little longer - but I love it! :)

Hope you can play along this week!! I'd love to see you there!! :)

A new love??? ...

Possibly....!! This is my first attempt at "painting" with distress inks. I thought I'd give it a whirl for this week's challenge at Just Magnolia. No copics used on this one (*gasp).....Strictly Tim's wonder inks and an aqua pen!!! FUN FUN FUN!!!! I actually had two of the newer colors but for this one I just stuck with the old colors for today. Not sure what is up with the bright colors lately - guess I'm just ready for spring. If you have time this week, the challenge is an easel card. They're kinda neat - something else I hadn't tried!! Anyway....here it is....and as always - thanks for stopping by!! :)

Just Magnolia.....Week 46

This week, our challenge was to use this sketch:

Here's what I came up with. This is one of the new Magnolia's featuring Tilda in her tulle skirt. Isn't she just tooooo adorable. Thanks for stopping by!! :)

This week at Drunken Stampers......

The challenge was to be inspired by this photo:

Well, those little placket things along the bottom reminded me of those photo holder thingys that I hadn't used in AGES!!! Here's what I came up with for the challenge. It's a little hard to see in the picture, but the metal piece says Live....Love....Laugh! Isn't the image cute??? Its from The Greeting Farm and my good friend Peggy was kind enough to share it with me!!! Thanks Peg - and thanks for the fun challenge this week!!! :)

Happy Birthday Makena!!

Here's a little card I made this morning for my neice. It is also the challenge at Just Magnolia this week. Make a tent card and dangle something in it. I chose to dangle a gift card from Toys R Us. She's turning 8 and has EVERYTHING!!! I had no idea what to get her as I only see her a few times a year and have NO idea what she is in to!!! This way, she can go and pick something SHE wants and it's not just another cheesy aunty gift!! LOL!!!! I hope she'll like the card I made for her. It's hard to tell in the picture, but there are rhinestones around the cut out and they are a lot blingier in real life. Also, I'd never tried paper piecing before so I tried it on Tilda's dress and her little socks. I actually had fun with this even though it was a little tedious (I make such a mess with liquid glue!!) Anyway - I like the result and I'm sure it's something I'll try again!!! Thanks for stopping by....more to come!! :)

I almost threw out this little Magnolia the other night as the colors just weren't coming together for me. She's definitely not my best work, but when I saw her still sitting on my desk, I just couldn't bear to throw her away!!! I made due and just put together a simple card. I could stand to learn to sew better too but hey...the screw ups just add character!! :)

Well, I found some time to play this afternoon, so I thought I would take part in this week's challenge over at the Drunken Stampers Blog. The challenge was to create with "inchies". What are inchies??? Well...they are itty bitty pieces of 1" x 1" squares. You can do lots with them - mosaics, single squares, triple squares, etc. I thought I'd whip up a few more note cards for my etsy store. These are just 3x3 so they are tiny - just perfect for enclosing a little note to a friend. :) Thanks for stopping by and if you so desire - c'mon over to Drunken Stampers and take part in this weeks challenge. You have until Friday night!! :)

Just another quick card I whipped up tonight for Ann's Sketch Challenge at SNS!! I tried a different technique with the copics and although I have a long way to go to perfect it, I am happy with my first try!! :) I just love playing with these little pens!! They make me HAPPY!! :)
