Another little test knit....

This one for another shawl....easy peasy ....mindless knitting!! LOVE IT!!! I'm through the first pattern repeat, so should be smooth sailing from here on in.  This is a perfect knit to work on while watching the Canucks game!! I don't really have to think about anything - just go!!!

On another note, ask me how excited I am to be attending the SOCK SUMMIT 2011?!!!!   Okay - I know that probably wouldn't phase most of you - but I am thrilled to pieces.  I can't WAIT to see the market!!! I have 6 classes picked out (there are TONS but they say not to overdo it as they are really indepth).   I have to pair it down a bit though cuz each class is $75 and there's just no way I want to spend all my $$$ on classes and not in the market!! Good thing registration isn't open yet, so I have some time to decide.  :)   I just can't wait - 91 days and counting!! Whoooot!!!

Also, today I shipped my alpaca fiber to the mill in Alberta!! Yippie!!! I cannot WAIT to get that back!!! The only thing missing now is my wheel!! ACK!! I am not sure what the hold up is - but I know they do take a long time to get here and may be on backorder.  I should really contact the gal that I ordered it from ...I just haven't had time.  I will try and do that this weekend.  My yummy rovings arrived that I had mentioned a few posts back, so I may just have to get out my spindle and go to town before my wheel arrives.  :)

Other than that, not much is happening around here.  Wayne is working on his Harley.  We just bought our tickets to STURGIS NORTH today - FIVE DAY PASSES!!! Whooot!! That's going to be a lot of fun.  I haven't been to an event like that in YEARS!!!  CANNOT WAIT!!!

The summer calendar is really starting to fill up!! Exciting stuff!!!  :)

Well, ...as promised....

Here are the first pictures of our new little boys! Popcorn is in front and Brutus is in the back.  They are still inside the trailer at this point and haven't come out yet.  We checked on them a short time ago and I think they are content to spend the night in there - which is okay with us.  :)  Its open so they can come and go as they please.  Perhaps in the morning they'll feel more like checking out their surroundings.  We didn't get them until late this afternoon.  I just don't want them to be too stressed out there.  They're still pretty little and its only been a few days since they lost all their fiber, so there's been a lot of changes in their world lately.  I'll take some more pictures in the next couple of days once they're up and about.  :)  Happy Easter to me! :)

What the......????

Here's a little video for you of the man in action. Oh...and just incase you didn't notice - check out the coach....ON HER CELL PHONE!! (*insert rolling eyes here!!)

Hard at work....

Dad came up on Wednesday to help way put up the new barn.  Here they are working together....I don't know how they do it...I can't work with Wayne for five minutes before I'm getting yelled at.  It's a "man thing" they tell me!!! Whatever!!  Anyway - here's the finished barn.  How cool is that??
We're ALMOST ready to go...just need to get some hay now!! :)  Sooooo exciting!! Today's the day we bring home Popcorn and Brutus.  I can hardly wait!!! :)

Shearing Day....

Well, here we are with some of the girls waiting to get their yearly haircut.  Our hosts Craig and Heidi Bacon of Tocino Alpaca held their annual shearing day and invited Wayne and I to join them.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE shearing day.  It's soooo neat to be near these fabulous creatures!! ...and if you haven't guessed it already, ...here's my little secret!!! We BOUGHT two alpacas today!! Whooot!!! Ours are boys, they are almost a year old.  Their names are Brutus and Popcorn.  Sadly, we were soooo busy with our shearing duties and yes...each person on the farm has a DUTY....that I didn't get any pictures of our boys...but trust me, they are looking sooooo doggone cute!!! We are just building some shelter for them right now (pics below) but should have them here by Saturday.  I cannot WAIT!!! In the meantime, I have four lucious bags of fiber just waiting to be skirted and sent off to the mill!!! I'm soooooo excited!!!  Yummy yummy fiber.  Now I'm just waiting for my wheel to get here, which should be ANY DAY!!! Yahhhhooooo!!! Here's a picture of Wayne working with some concrete footings getting ready to put up the pole barn.

I love this new adventure....soooooo exciting!!

Ta Da....another finished Test Knit!

Love love love this pattern!!  Soooo comfy.  I thought the yarn was a little stiff when I was knitting with it - but turns out - its VERY comfy!! I'm thrilled with this pattern - easy to read and very WELL put together.  I had fun with this one!! :)

Sadly, no more test knits for me for a while.  I have to get my JGS done by the end of the month and I've been swamped at work.  We're WAY behind.  They are transcribing faster than the transcriptionists can keep up!! ACK!! Also - I forgot my camera the other day - so no updated pics of B.  I'll try and remember to bring it on Wednesday!!! Oh...and I should have some cool pics tomorrow!! Stay tuned!!

SNS April Reveal....

Well, with all the knitting, you may have thought I was neglecting my copics!! Not true!! :)  Here are my three cards for the reveal at SNS this month.  I tried to create a little more contrast between the light and dark using the darker colors this month.  I definitely have some more work to do on getting the contrast just right - but you get the idea! :)

Thanks for stopping by!  As mentioned I hope to get a wack done on my JGS shawl tomorrow, so if I make a decent dent in it, I'll be sure to post a progress picture.
Well, I'm off to bed - again, have a great weekend everyone!! :)

Progress....

On another pair of "Test Knit" socks!

This pattern is called Gentle Breezes and is going along swimmingly!  I cannot WAIT until this weekend as I am going to have a knit fest.  I am working on my Japanese Garden Shawl and really want to make some DECENT progress on that one this weekend.  Today, I am working like a fiend as it is cut off.  I don't know why I'm even bothering as I am about a day behind as far as my quota goes.... but I'm trying to do the best I can.  This working FULL time is taking up a BIG portion of my life - I'm not sure I like it!! :(

Anyway - looks like spring is on the way!! We start soccer tomorrow.  I am kind of excited.  I found out who our coach is today and he's a coach that knows Brayden from hockey.  He's pretty tough on his teams ...so this should be an interesting season.  He's all about "development" so I'm interested to see how he coaches.  We've never had him directly before, but I've seen him coach on the field and have seen him on the ice.  Like I say...it should be interesting!!  For those of you that came over from my personal blog - I'm sorry that I have been a little lax with the pictures of Brayden lately.  I'll get some for you tomorrow - promise.  We just haven't really been doing anything all that exciting.  Me working - him school - and Dad fencing.  FUN times!!!

Here is a picture of my yard - taken from the deck yesterday morning.
In truth, I took it just to bug a few of my Calgarian buddies as they had a BIG dump of snow and one of my girlfriends was heading out to shovel in the morning.  I just wanted to let her know what she was missing.  I love how the grass is getting green again!! :)  Spring is on the way!

Well, that's about it for now.  Stay tuned for some more project pics over the weekend and also some EXCITING news that I'll share with y'all on Tuesday.  Donna......shhhh....for now...it's a secret!! Have a great weekend all!! Thanks for stopping by!

TA DA!!! - Test knit #2 - COMPLETE!!

Test knit #2 complete and early to boot!! Yay me!! :)  This is the 2nd of two test knits I am working on.  This was a fun little project - lots of different stitches in this one - definitely kept me on my toes.  I had to frog it a couple times...but once I got the hang of it - and concentrated ....it went swimmingly!! :)

I still have to knit the second one as I only required one for the test knit, but that won't take me too long.  In the meantime...I have a couple of other items just dying to get on the needles.  One other thing I noticed...I'm going to have to stay away from the greens...I think I have enough green socks now!! LOL!! :) Funny - nothing else in my wardrobe is green...just socks apparently!! LOL!!

Have a great weekend everyone - thanks for stopping by!

Finished my test knit!!

Okay - here you have it....my first completed test knit.  I loved making this little shawlette...it knit up quickly and it was an easy pattern to follow.  I'll be sure to let you know when the final pattern becomes available.

I have one more test knit on the go - hoping to finish that one up in the next few days! It's a little more complicated so it is taking a little longer!!  Well, that and the work thing is really cutting into my knitting time! :(  Anyway, thanks for stopping by... hope to see you again soon!

Making Progress.....

Whew!!! Well, the pressure is off!! Cut off was yesterday so now I can breathe a bit again!! UGH!!  I really have to concentrate on working more during the start of the pay period so that I'm not scrambling at the end!! Oye vey!!!  Anyway, here is a little sneak peak of one of the test knitting projects I'm working on:

I'm hoping to have this one completed in the next few days! :)  I'm loving how this is coming together.  My yarn is more green than what is shown in the picture, but alas ...it was pouring rain when I took the picture, so this is what I got.  Hopefully it will be nice and sunny when I show you the completed project!! :)
